A relatively inexpensive, 176-room, design-aware hotel in Zurenborg – the neighbourhood area southwest of Central Station that is noted for its exquisite collection of art nouveau dwellings [see Zurenborg entry]. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the art nouveau 'ghetto' as well as the popular Café Den Draak and, just above, it the Het Roze Huis gay community centre [see entries]. Built in 1975 as Fletcher Hotel Antwerp, with hotel chain TRYP (of Wyndham Worldwide) taking over in 2012. As of 2016 this is TRYP's one hotel in Belgium. This was scheduled to be a Darklands Official Host Hotel in March 2023, but in actual fact it is closed for renovation throughout 2023, reopening in early 2024.
