The world's only printer-publishing house preserved from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, this centrally located jewel was the printing facility of French-born humanist and influential book printer and publisher Christophe Plantin (in Dutch Christoffel Plantijn) (ca 1520–89). With its renowned collections of 16th- and 17th-century graphics, this figures among the world's most important print rooms and includes not only one of the oldest existing printing presses (ca 1600) but also prints and drawings, from Antwerp masters such as Rubens to the present day. The beautifully preserved, atmospheric and labyrinth-like museum is more interesting than it sounds.
